The Arrimage N.P.O. and the New National Museum of Monaco organized an adapted visit of the exhibition dedicated to the Japanese artist SHIMABUKU “The 165-meter Mermaid and other stories”. at Villa Paloma, N.M.N.M
The exhibition finds its origins in a medieval Japanese legend and develops like an epic poem. It relates the adventures of the walking artist and his encounters all along the water, from his native Japan to the Principality of Monaco, via Brazil, Australia and many other countries.
Freely associating performance, land art, music or cuisine, Shimabuku's works continually weave new stories. His texts, which form the narrative framework of the exhibition, interweave installations, films, sculptures, photographs, produced over the last thirty years.
This audio-description visit took place on Thursday, September 23 in a small group, due to restrictions linked to the pandemic.
Thanks to Björn Dahlström, director of the N.M.N.M., Célia Bernasconi, curator of the exhibition, Coline Matarazzo, cultural mediator, and her colleagues for their welcome and support.
